    A key component of a company’s IT framework is a business intelligence (BI) system. BI enables business users to report on, analyze and optimize business operations to reduce costs and increase revenues. Organizations use BI for strategic and tactical decision making where the decision-making cycle may span a time period of several weeks (e.g., campaign management) or months (e.g., improving customer satisfaction).Competitive pressures coming from a very dynamic business environment are forcing companies to react faster to changing business conditions and customer requirements. As a result, there is now a need to use BI to help drive and optimize business operations on a daily basis, and, in some cases, even for intraday decision making.     The customized therapeutic approach of a giant pancreatic pseudocyst. A case report and literature review

    Giant pancreatic pseudocysts are considered those cysts whose dimensions exceed 10 cm and are sporadically reported in the literature. Although there are multiple treatment modalities, there are currently no treatment guidelines or consensus on the best therapeutic approach for giant pancreatic pseudocysts. We report the case of a 32-year-old male patient with a giant pancreatic pseudocyst after an episode of acute pancreatitis, which was treated by internal surgical drainage through cyst-jejunal anastomosis. This surgical procedure was followed by the formation of a retroperitoneal abscess which was resolved by ultrasound-guided drainage. The subsequent evolution of the patient was favorable, without other complications. Given their complex anatomical relations, the treatment of giant pseudocysts requires strategies adapted to the local conditions. The optimal choice of the operative time and of the therapeutic strategy is based on clinical considerations and the effectiveness of the method used can be assessed by a long-term follow-up

    Assessment of the Effects of Si Addition to a New TiMoZrTa System

    Ti-based alloys are widely used in medical applications. When implant devices are used to reconstruct disordered bone, prevent bone resorption and enhance good bone remodeling, the Young’s modulus of implants should be close to that of the bone. To satisfy this requirement, many titanium alloys with different biocompatible elements (Zr, Ta, Mo, Si etc.) interact well with adjacent bone tissues, promoting an adequate osseointegration. Four new different alloys were obtained and investigated regarding their microstructure, mechanical, chemical and biological behavior (in vitro and in vivo evaluation), as follows: Ti20Mo7Zr15Ta, Ti20Mo7Zr15Ta0.5Si, Ti20Mo7Zr15Ta0.75Si and Ti20Mo7Zr15TaSi. 60 days after implantation, both in control and experimental rabbits, at the level of implantation gap and into the periimplant area were found the mesenchymal stem cells which differentiate into osteoblasts, then osteocytes and osteoclasts which are involved in the new bone synthesis and remodeling, the periimplant fibrous capsule being continued by newly spongy bone tissue, showing a good osseointegration of alloys. A 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay confirmed the in vitro cytocompatibility of the prepared alloys

    The Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 has caused a large number of cases and hospitalizations in the pediatric population. Infants due to their age are susceptible to viral infections that may have a worse prognosis. Therefore, the aim of the current study has been to characterize the clinical features and the outcome of infants hospitalized with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection during the Omicron wave. We conducted a retrospective study of all consecutive infants hospitalized with symptomatic COVID-19 and no other co-infections, from January to September 2022 in one of the largest infectious diseases hospitals from Bucharest, Romania. A total of 613 infants were included in the analysis. The median age was 5 months (IQR: 3, 8 months). The clinical features were dominated by fever (96.4%), cough (64.8%) and loss of appetite (63.3%), and overall, respiratory symptoms were the most numerous (76.0%). Infants between 1-3 months old had a 1.5-fold increased risk of elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) values, and a longer length of hospitalization as compared to older infants. Infants between 7-9 months of age had 1.5-fold higher odds of loss of appetite, 1.7-fold more frequent cough and 1.6-fold more frequent digestive symptoms compared to infants in other age groups. The presence of digestive symptoms increased the probability of hepatic cytolysis (increased ALT) by 1.9-fold. Continued monitoring of COVID-19 among infants is very necessary, given the progressive character of SARS-CoV-2, in order to take correct and rapid therapeutic measures and to adapt to clinical changes driven by viral variant change
